The office is located on a street front in the heart of Nicosia’s walled town. Originally the workshop of a small dental clinic connected to a residence on the first floor, abandoned for several decades before its renovation. The space is defined by its deep floor plan, high ceilings, and irregular shape which add unique characteristics to the space.
Spatially, the space was kept to its original form. Two new walls, positioned at different angles to one another and detached from the ceiling, were introduced to accommodate back-of-house spaces, including a small kitchenette, print room, and bathroom, subtly separating these areas from the studio space. One wall is built from raw concrete blockwork, while the other from large galvanised steel sheets. These materials intentionally contrast with the traditional construction methods of the building establishing a clear definition between the old and the new.
A long black-stained plywood table, a black seamless mosaic terrazzo flooring, and the exposed mechanical fittings on the ceiling emphasise a raw industrial touch.
